The Utah State Prison in Draper, Utah, first began housing state inmates in 1951. Today, it has the capacity to hold approximately 4,500 offenders within eight housing facilities. USP houses male and female offenders, separating the genders into different areas of the prison complex. It offers a variety of programming opportunities, including but not limited to education, vocational training, sex-offender treatment and intensive residential substance abuse treatment.
